Easy Winter Skincare Routine

The weather is cooling off and although it’s fun to bring out your leggings and booties, it also means your skin might be getting drier by the minute! This time of year is so harsh on my skin and I’ve tried just about everything under the sun, but I’ve found a routine that is working for me in the early part of Winter and I wanted to share it with you!

The best part is most of these products aren’t too expensive and you can find them just about anywhere! I’ll be giving you a step-by-step process so you’ll know exactly what I do to take care of my skin in the winter time.

Step 1

The first thing I do is wash my face with a gentle cleanser, specifically Cetaphil. This removes dirt, makeup, and oil and is a creamy cleanser. I don’t use a cleanser with the little beads in it during the winter time because it tends to dry my skin out more than a cream. I pick this up at Target, but you can find it at any store, and it usually runs $8 or so.

Step 2

After I wash my face with Cetaphil, I use Ren Gentle Cleanser for additional cleaning, but this cleanser is thicker and locks in moisture. Jessie James Decker always talks about this brand so I gave it a try, and WOW!, I love it! This runs a bit higher at $38 a pop, so I don’t use it every day. I’ll use a quarter size amount every two days or so because I still like to ball on a budget. Ren has an entire skincare line but this is the only product I’ve used so far.

Step 3

This step can actually be a part of Step 1 or Step 2. As you’re cleansing your face, use the silicone face cleanser to gently exfoliate your skin. I bought these Fore Luna dupes from Marshall’s and think they do a great job. Mine came in a pack of two for around $6 as compared to the Luna that is almost $50.

Step 4

Once you are done washing your face, it’s time to moisturize like you life depends on it. I found out that Vitamin C is actually really great for your skin so I randomly picked up this nourishing and renewing cream at Marshall’s because I was intrigued. It was lucky pick because it works wonders! My skin is so much brighter now and isn’t flaky like it typically is this time of year. You can use any Vitamin C cream, but this one works well and smells like orange so it’s a win in my book.

Step 5

The first 4 steps are what I do every day (excluding Ren) and that routine has been a game changer, but I also take it a few steps more to really lock in that moisture. About twice a week I will also use a face mask. I don’t prefer one brand over the other but I do think the Victoria’s Secret sheet masks are super fun, but that’s mostly because of their unique names.

Step 6

And finally, when life gets busy or I am on-the-go and don’t have time to do every single step I bring out the ultimate lifesaver - Mario Badescu Facial Spray. It provides the perfect lightweight mist and since it comes in different sizes, the travel size perfectly fits in your handbag. Not only does it add moisture to a clean face, but it also doubles as a setting spray when you’re already glammed up!

I have to say, this is my very first skincare routine that I’ve stuck with and that’s probably because it’s easy and affordable. I hope this routine provides that selfie skin you’ve always wanted! Let me know what your favorite products are in the comment section below!
