Paraben-free Beauty Products for Pregnancy & Beyond

I really enjoyed creating the Easy Winter Skincare Routine for you guys a while back, so I thought it was only fitting to continue on that path, but this time showcasing beauty products that are pregnancy safe. The best part is, you don’t have to be pregnant to use these paraben-free products as they are safe for everyone any day of the year!

The first product I changed when I found out I was pregnant was my deodorant. I had been using Secret for years and I often switch to Schmidt’s at random, but made the full on switch and I don’t have complaints. I think I mostly love it because of the rose smell - clearly I’m obsessed with anything rose. That’s because when I was little I’d stay at my aunt and uncle’s house sometimes and they always had an air freshener in the ac vents that smelled like roses. So, here we are. Wow - that was random!

I buy this at Target for just under $5 and I think it beats the $20 price tag of Native brand. The only thing is Target only carries two or three scents, BUT if you go to Shmidt’s you’ll find a ton more scents!

If you know me then you know I am kind of obsessed with my hair and hair products. I am constantly changing my color or style of it so it was a no brainer that I should switch to better hair products. I’ve always used salon products, but just recently started paying more attention to the ingredients in these products. I cannot get over Aveda products, especially the Color Conserve. When my hair is on the lighter, more blonde side I’ll use the Blue Malva shampoo. I know it’s called “blue” but the shampoo is actually purple, which we all know the more purp the better. haha (& yes, I meant to say purp)

I’ve been going to an Aveda Salon for the past several years, if you don’t go to an Aveda salon when you get your hair done you can click here to view all of their plant based products.

Last hair product, I promise - dry shampoo. We all use it and we all love it so it must be included on this list. The “top shelf” of dry shampoo, in my opinion, is the Detox Dry Bar Dry Shampoo. Honestly, I don’t even feel like this product needs much explaining because it speaks for itself. Try it. Promise you’ll love it.

If you don’t love the $25 price tag that it comes with then I’d suggest these two products - NYM Beach Babe Dry Shampoo or Batiste Dry Shampoo. Both of the products are more than half the cost and come in multiple scents, showcase a variety of products, and can be used for different hair types just like the Dry Bar Dry Shampoo.

And saving the best for last - self tanner! If you’ve been anything like me while pregnant then you definitely have not felt like your normal, cute sassy self. Now before you go on and say “tanning isn’t safe while pregnant” and giving me a speech you can save it because my Obgyn did tell me that self tanner is fine, just not a tanning bed or spray tan. If you’re on the fence about this then I suggest you leave it to the professionals and ask your doctor, because I am far far from being a doctor. haha

I love this product because it might actually go on green so you have a guideline of where you’ve put self tanner and where you’ve missed. I will say the first time I used this I did not know that and I called my sister freaking out, but I promise, after you wash it off you look like the bronzed goddess you were born to be!

In case you’re wondering, this is what I like to refer to as the “dupe” for St. Tropez as it does the same exact thing just at a lower price point.

Okay, here’s the game changer y’all! Every gal, pregnant or not, needs an awesome leav-in conditioner and this one is my go-to! It does 10 freaking things - repairs dry damaged hair, adds shine, smoothes & controls frizz, seals & protects hair color, detangles, prevents split ends, stops hair breakage, creates silkiness, enhances natural body, flat iron & thermal protector. Whew - that’s alot of benefits in one product!

I have thin, fine hair and it does not weigh my hair down at all, it can be used on wet or dry hair, and it doesn’t discriminate against colored or non-colored hair. They do make a version for blondes, too.

I mean, can you say #WINNING?!

This is another item I pick up at Target, but Ulta has it too - go grab those reward points, girl! This product is around $20, but if you want something a bit more affordable I suggest the Not Your Mother’s All Eye’s On Me 10-in-1 Hair Perfector. It does the exact same thing for more than half the price.

No amount of water or cold showers has helped but this lotion is kind of helpful. I won’t lie and say this has cured all my crusty crust skin issues but it has been helpful. I love that it comes with a pump because then I don’t get the bottle all greased up after applying. I used this morning and night and it seems to help a little bit. I’m completely open to suggestions if you guys have a better product - share in the comment section below!

I hope this gives you a few good options for beauty products that are safe to use during pregnancy and are paraben-free. Are there any products that you use and love?! Share them with us in the comment section below!
